My name is Rodrigo Pocius. I am a Sivananda Certified Yoga Teacher, having attended in the Fall of 1999, the one-month residential teacher training program at the Sivananda Ashram in Woodbourne, NY. I am also a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist. I attended the California College of Ayurveda in Grass Valley, California.
The word Yoga is Sanskrit for ‘union’,and this refers a final unification with the divine, or depending on your beliefs, the source of all life that we all share, regardless of beliefs or actions.
Sivananda Yoga is a more traditional type of Hatha Yoga, incorporating four different paths of Yoga. They are Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Karma Yoga. Hatha Yoga is incorporated withing the study of Raja Yoga. Each seperate path is powerful on it’s own in practice, however, a more balanced approach to the Yogic lifestyle is ideal.

It is understood that we are all on our own paths in this existence, and each individual approach to Yoga, and life in general, may differ in practice, but we all do share a deeper truth which is beyond ideologies and politics. With Yoga we can take a step towards that day that we achieve unity.
